New Zealand, Echidnas & Bridges

How is it already March?

What a start to the year, with it being far too hot to get out & explore at home, we are very glad that we had booked a return to New Zealand for another amazing 2 weeks of riding. The temperature difference certainly hit, leaving Perth on a 43° evening to a cool 8° morning in Queenstown. This had us wondering if we had really packed the right riding gear. We only had some minor prep work to do on the bike so were able to get straight into the riding, first heading north for a few days before turning to head for Southland & the main reason for the trip, the Burt Munro Challenge.

We covered a lot of new ground over the 2 weeks, along with a side adventure on the Wairaurahiri River so there is a bit of work in the editing studio coming up to share the highlights of NZ TwoUp 2024 with you. We also made the decision to take our camping gear on this trip & that turned out to be a handy choice when accommodation was a little harder to find in some of the tourist areas.

In the meantime, we have been putting the finishing touches on a couple of rides from the end of 2023 so there will be some new content added to the channel in the coming weeks as well.

We did manage the first WA ride for 2024 last weekend, with a cooler day seeing us take back roads through to Dwellingup for lunch. It was nice to just pick a location, then pick new roads not travelled to wind our way north. A couple of wild animal sightings added to the experience with an echidna encounter plus some wild deer crossing in front of us on the way back to Bunbury. Let us know your favourite animal encounter while out on the trails.

We are also working on some GPX files from our travels so far & will be back with updates for when these become available so be sure to keep an eye on the page in the coming months.

Right, back to the editing studio, catch you out on the trails.
