April has seen a lot of change in the ReganRides garage.
It all started with the decision to sell the Kawasaki, while a great learner bike, the bigger plan will see us on a single bike touring so the reduction in registration & insurance costs can only help with the savings plans. Once sold, it was time to revisit the weekend warrior, again a registration cost & contribution towards a possible upgrade, this was an easy decision.
We had no plans to upgrade immediately, but a visit to the BMW dealer in Perth resulted in a handshake & 2 weeks later on the 3rd of April we made the final ride on the KTM 1090 to Perth & picked up Atlas, our BMW R1250 GS Adventure Rallye.
Having ridden several bikes we feel this is a good option for the adventure touring we want to do, particularly with a plan to travel overseas. Knowing there will be big distances on road we wanted something that would do this comfortably, while still retaining the option to travel as many back roads & dirt trails as we want.

We have been for a few rides already, plus our first camping overnighter on Atlas & are very happy with the change. The initial service is now due & the first set of tyres are booked for fitting at the same time as the standard tyres are not great on loose gravel or sand which we encountered on that ride.
We have a few rides already planned out touring a little bit further from the South West of WA & the KTM in NZ is still patiently waiting for us to get back for another trip. In the meantime, the studio editing is well under way for the last NZ 2Up series, getting ready to share for anyone interested.
Exciting times ahead as the plans are starting to take shape.
